Privacy Policy
Effective October 10, 2026
This policy explains what Wikivec Inc. (“we”) collects when you play Hypedle, and why. The short version: your guesses, streak and stats stay on your device, and we never know who you are.
Your game history
Your guesses, results, streak and theme choice are saved in your browser's local storage, on your device only, so the game remembers where you left off. Clearing your browser data clears them.
What we do collect
- Standard request logs from our host (IP address, browser, pages requested), kept for security and reliability.
- Anonymous daily counts: how many people started, finished, won and shared each puzzle, and how many opened Unlimited. They carry no identifier.
- For one count, how many players come back, your browser sends the number of the first puzzle it played. That number is the same for everyone who started that day, so it can't identify you.
- If you buy Unlimited: Stripe takes the payment and gives us your Stripe customer id, plan, renewal date and billing email. We keep that record while you're a member and for 90 days after, then delete it (Stripe keeps its own records as the law requires).
- If you ask for a restore link, we use your email once to send it.
The Unlimited cookie
Buying Unlimited, or opening a restore link, sets one cookie on that device: a signed reference to your Stripe customer, so the site knows this device has Unlimited. It's needed for the service you asked for, isn't used for tracking or ads, and is removed when you choose “Remove from this device” or clear your cookies.
Wikipedia data
When you make a guess, your browser fetches that article's public pageview numbers directly from the Wikimedia Foundation's API, so Wikimedia receives your IP address and the article title, as when you visit Wikipedia. Pageview data is published by Wikimedia under CC0; article excerpts shown after a puzzle come from Wikipedia under CC BY-SA 4.0. Hypedleisn't affiliated with or endorsed by the Wikimedia Foundation.
Hypedle shows no ads and sets no advertising or tracking cookies.
Who processes data for us
- Vercel: hosting the website. Data: IP address and request logs.
- Wikimedia Foundation: your browser fetches each guessed article's public pageview curve from Wikimedia's API. Data: IP address and the article title you guessed.
- Upstash: anonymous daily game counters, and, for Unlimited members, the subscription record that turns Unlimited on. Data: your Stripe customer id, plan, renewal date and billing email.
- Stripe: taking payment for Unlimited and managing the subscription (card details go to Stripe, never to us). Data: your email, payment details and billing country.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data we hold, and to object to or restrict its use. The personal data we may hold is an Unlimited member's billing email and subscription record; write to us and we'll delete it (after canceling the subscription, if it's still running).
Children
Hypedle is a general-audience game and isn't directed at children under 13. Don't join the waitlist if you're under 13.
